World Government Summit

February 14, 2017

Our Dubai-team is attending the World Government Summit, a venue dedicated to shaping the future of governments worldwide.

Our Senior Consultant, Christina Harboe, shares her thoughts on this year’s summit:

World Government Summit is a valuable platform for us to exchange knowledge on levers to improve public sector performance, new innovative solutions and future trends. At this year’s Summit, we are especially excited about the focus on how governments can leverage data-driven analysis to deliver better core services. This includes new ways of thinking about big data as a government asset that can activate new facts to allow for better decision-making. It raises a number of challenges regarding capabilities and culture in the public sector, but also entails a great promise. It will be especially exiting to hear H.E. Mattar al Thayer, Director General of RTA, speak about the future of transportation.

We are equally excited about the strong focus on improving higher education at the Summit. It is pivotal that government target resources on the core services of teaching and research while also ensuring the best possible fit between the society’s demand for capabilities and the supply of graduates. Both are areas we at Struensee & Co. have worked with extensively, and we are excited about the opportunity to gain new inspiration and engage in discussions.

On the first day of the summit it was a big experience to hear H.H. Sheikh Mohammed deliver his vision the future of government and on development in the Arab World in particular. His Highness stressed the importance of ensuring high quality top management, making decisions based on fact-based analysis and translating overall vision into tangible plan for delivering change.
